We are all enjoying the beautiful fall colors and the change of season. It is finally time to bundle up and prepare for the chilly weather that is on its way. School portraits were done in the office and the children looked adorable! Rachel and I made sure to comb hair and get the children relaxed and ready for their portraits to be taken. We are very hopeful that when the pictures arrive you will be pleased. We are planning for our pictures to be returned to ABC before the Thanksgiving Holiday. The Lions, Rabbits, and Mice all went on a fun field trip to the Nicasio Pumpkin Patch mid October. It was a wonderful adventure for everyone involved. The children loved the two hay mazes, and the tractor ride. Each child was also able to go out into the pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin to bring home with them. We could not have done this without all the parent volunteers. Thank you so much for your help in making this field trip such a huge success.

School pictures will arrive Monday, November 2nd. Shooting Stars needs you to fill out your picture forms and have them all returned with a check no later than Wednesday, November 4th. This is the only way they can guarantee an arrival date of November 25th for pictures processed and returned to ABC. Each envelope will have a number on it that pertains to your child’s picture. You can easily go online and pick which pose and background you desire from their website. You can also build your own packages from this website. If you do not want to go online for your picture packets, then please do not take your picture envelopes home with you. You should decide what pictures you like and order them the same day. Once you get your envelopes, please take the time to pick your favorite pictures and write a check to Shooting Stars. ABC will be delivering all picture packets and checks to Shooting Stars on Wednesday, November 4th.
Thanksgiving Feast Each year we enjoy celebrating a Thanksgiving Feast with the children. This year we will be celebrating our feast on Wednesday, November 25th. The children will enjoy a lunch of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, rolls and butter, and either pumpkin or apple pie for dessert. Please do not pack a lunch for your child on this day. The afternoon preschool children that attend school on Wednesdays are invited to come join us at noon for this feast. The children will wear either a Pilgrim Hat or an American Indian Headdress during their feast. The children will each make a hat on the days leading up to the feast. We will decorate the tables with tablecloths and festive Thanksgiving ornaments. The children love this school feast and Rachel takes pictures of the event so that you can see the celebration posted in the school. Please watch for a sign-up sheet for food donations so we can have a plentiful meal. We will need your help in providing all of the special food for this event. Thank you!
Seasonal Flu Bugs As you know, we have had our bout with children out with the flu this season. So far we have been fortunate in not losing staff due to illness during this flu season. We have heard news of a few private preschools in Marin that have closed because of illness among students. Please help us keep this flu bug in check by keeping sick children home. We will be sending children home that have fevers and are not feeling well or complaining of illness. We really have to be diligent about protecting the children and staff this time of year. Thank you for your help with this sensitive issue.
Bragging Rights Please bear with me as I tell you about the two fun phone calls I received last week. First I got a call from a Kindergarten teacher at Brookside who had five of our students in her class. She was so impressed with their achievements that she wanted to get on our wait list for her child. Three days later, a Kindergarten teacher from Wade Thomas made almost the exact same call. She had four of our students in her classroom and was telling me how she had never seen such well prepared, delightful students before. She too got on our waiting list with her child. Please know that your children are in the very best hands at ABC and the love, nurturing, and education that they receive here is unparalleled in Marin at this time. YAY ABC Staff!!!
Afternoon Snack Calendar We are still not having our afternoon snacks provided by parents. Please take the time to sign up for bringing a snack if your child attends our afternoon preschool program. We would really appreciate your help with this. Thanks!
Marin Food Bank Thank you for filling one food barrel already! We will have this barrel picked up and will order another one to be delivered. We so appreciate your generosity with this charity. It is such a good cause and we love being part of the Food Bank Program each year. We will have the last barrel picked up November 20th in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
ABC Rate Increase For the past thirty years ABC has issued a 5% rate increase in January. We are NOT going to do that this January due to the economy and the hardship placed on families at this time. Instead, we will be doing a complete overhaul of our billing system and changing rates in June of 2010. This gesture is intended to help our ABC families in any way that we are able. We appreciate all that you constantly do for our school and want you to know that we care and support you.
